The clinical role of the physician assistant includes but is not limited to primary care, family practice, and specialties such as aviation medicine, cardiovascular perfusion, emergency medicine, occupational medicine and orthopedics. In addition, they deploy to provide medical support during mobilization, humanitarian assistance, and peacekeeping missions. · Physician Assistant must have a baccalaureate or Master’s degree and must have graduated from a PA training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (or previously recognized accrediting body) and acceptable to the DA. · Must be a US Citizen. · All Physician Assistants are required to possess current certification by the National Commission on to remain certified, Physician Assistants must complete 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years and take a recertification examination every 6 years. · Licensure as a Physician Assistant from a U.S. State, the D.C. Commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction is required. · All Physician Assistants shall have current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS). BLS certification must be obtained through an American Heart Association and/or Red Cross approved training program and maintained in a current status at all times while performing services.
